The restart of the Indian Premier League 2025 has been delayed further as weather at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium does not currently seem to be in the mood of allowing any play in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Kolkata Knight Riders clash. (Match Blog | Points Table)
If rain gods continue to be in bad mood, the two teams will be forced to share points and that will have massive implications on the points table. Let us take a look at what will happen if the RCB vs KKR clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium is washed out.
RCB
If the game is washed out, RCB will go to the top of the table with 17 points in 12 matches. They will have one point more than the second-placed Gujarat Titans and two points more than the third-placed Punjab Kings. However, both GT and PBKS have only played 11 games and thus will have a game in hand.
17 points might or might not be enough to qualify for RCB. So, to be safe, RCB will need at least one more win in their remaining two matches to seal qualification.
KKR
For KKR, the one point from the washout will take them to 12 points from 13 matches and they will be eliminated from the race to play-offs. Their title defence will be over and their final game against SunRisers Hyderabad will become a dead rubber.
Other teams
The washout will bring smiles to the faces of other teams who are in the fray of qualification. Gujarat Titans will take a one-point lead over RCB if they win their next match. Punjab Kings too will match RCB on points if they manage to win their next game, thus opening up the battle for the top two slots.
However, if GT and PBKS lose their next match, RCB will take sole lead at the top of the standings.
