RCB opener batter Virat Kohli completed 600 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season and became the first player in IPL history to do this in five different editions. (Match Blog)
This is also the third successive year, when Kohli has made more than 600 runs in an IPL edition. He first achieved this feat in the 2013 edition. He repeated the same in the 2016 edition, where he amassed 973 runs, which is still the highest by a batter in an edition.
For the last three years, Kohli has been very consistent in the IPL and has scored 600-plus runs consistently. He overtook KL Rahul, who has done this four times before.
600-Plus Aggregate In An IPL Edition Most Often
5 - Virat Kohli (2013, 2016, 2023, 2024, 2025)
4 - KL Rahul (2018, 2020, 2021, 2022)
3 - Chris Gayle (2011, 2012, 2013)
3 - David Warner (2016, 2017, 2019)
KL Rahul has done this in the 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022 editions. He finished this edition with 539 runs in 13 innings. His team, the Delhi Capitals, have been eliminated from the race for the Playoffs.
Kohli, who recently retired from Test cricket, made 54 runs off 30 balls in his short but impactful innings, which included 10 fours. RCB are chasing a target of 228 runs in Lucknow.
This is a must-win game for RCB, who conceded 227 runs while bowling first at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow and is trying hard to finish in the top two of the points table.
A win will take RCB to the second position in the points table, where they will play Punjab Kings in the Qualifier 1. The defeat may force RCB to play the Eliminator against the Mumbai Indians.
