Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shreyas Iyer cemented his place as one of the finest captains in the 18 seasons of Indian Premier League after leading his team to the IPL 2025 playoffs with a seven-wicket win over Mumbai Indians (MI) on 26 May. This marked the first IPL playoff appearance for PBKS after 11 years of heartbreak.

Preity Zinta바카라™s management spent big on the batter in the mega auction, making him the most expensive player of all time with an INR 26.75 crore price tag. However, Iyer has paid it back with interest, leading PBKS바카라™ push for their maiden IPL title in his first season as captain.

Shreyas Iyer has broken several records on his way to the playoffs in IPL 2025. Most recently, he became the first player to lead three different IPL franchises to the playoffs. He had previously done this with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC), winning the title last year with the former.

Alongside this, he also became the first player to lead three different teams to a top-two finish in the IPL, something which had never been done before in the 18 seasons of the IPL. The three top-two finishes also put him just behind MS Dhoni (7) and Rohit Sharma (5) as the captain with the most Qualifier 1 appearances.

Alongside his leadership skills, Iyer also added another notch in his batting tally. He became the player with the sixth-most sixes as captain, with 101 maximums to his name. Interestingly, he trails former PBKS captain KL Rahul by four sixes.
