After clinching the ODI series 2-1, South Africa Women made a winning start to the T20I series, securing a 50-run victory in the opener against West Indies at the Three Ws Oval in Bridgetown on Friday, 20 June.
The Proteas Women set a giant total of 183/6, bouyed by a 98-run knock off 63 deliveries from Tazmin Brits. Nadine de Klerk added 21 runs from 17 balls, while Chloe Tryon scores 16 off nine deliveries before being run out by Jannillea Glasgow.
West Indies Women's chase got off to a horrible start as they lost five wickets for just 49 runs, including influential captain Hayley Matthews. Chinelle Henry tried to steady the ship with 26 runs off 32 balls, but by then, the match was out of Windies' hands.
Glasgow top-scored for the Caribbean side with 53 runs off 44 balls, but West Indies finished at 133/6 after 20 overs, handing South Africa a dominant win.
Earlier, West Indies Women had won the toss and opted to bowl first against South Africa Women in the first T2OI at the Three Ws Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.
