Iga Swiatek progressed into the fourth round of the French Open with a straight-sets victory over Jaqueline Cristian. The Pole won 6-2 7-5, securing her spot in the last 16 in under two hours.

Swiatek, who has now won each of her three matches without dropping a set, eased her way into the lead after she broke Cristian at the first time of asking.

Cristian put up a better fight in the second set, only losing her serve right before a potential tiebreaker, but Swiatek got over the line with her second match point.

Despite showing visible frustration in that second set, 23-year-old Swiatek is well on her way to a fourth consecutive title at Roland Garros, and a potential fifth in total.

"I'm just happy that I was super solid in the last game and didn't give any free points. She used her chances and went for it every time I gave her a chance," Swiatek said.

"It was a great match and I think pretty entertaining. We both played nicely. I'm happy I'm through and happy with the performance."

Swiatek will face either Elena Rybakina or Jelena Ostapenko in the next round.

Data Debrief: Sensational Swiatek continues to deliver

Swiatek (38-2) has become the player with the most women's singles main draw wins at the French Open in the Open Era after their first 40 matches, equalling Chris Evert.

Indeed, only Evert (29, 1974-1981) and Monica Seles (25, 1990-1996) have won more consecutive women's singles main draw matches at Roland-Garros than Swiatek in the Open Era (24, since 2022).

Her win over Cristian also meant she is now only the sixth player in the Open Era to have made the round of 16 in each of her first seven main draw appearances in the competition.

Evert holds the record for Open Era French Open titles with seven. Swiatek is currently joint-third with Justine Henin.
