Surendra Kumar Das, the Superintendent of Police in Kanpur city, who attempted suicide on Wednesday, had been reportedly surfing internet for ways to end life.
The 2014 batch IPS officer, who allegedly consumed poison at his official residence on Wednseday, is still critical.

The IPS officer was posted as SP City Kanpur East on August 9. Police are investigating what triggered him to attempt suicide.
As per media reports, police had recovered a two-page suicide note from the spot where Das was found unconscious. However, police have denied the claim.

Meanwhile, his parents who live in Lucknow have reached Kanpur. Das hails from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh.
