The Kerala government does not plan on filing an immediate criminal case against the shipping company after a Liberian cargo ship, MSC ELSA 3, carrying at least 640 oil containers - some including "hazardous cargo" - turned over and sank off the Kochi바카라™s coast last month.

After a meeting between Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Director General of Shipping, the state decided to go for insurance compensation through negotiation instead, as per media reports.

바카라œThe MSC is also a reputed company which patronises the Vizhinjam International Sea Port, and the company requires the goodwill of Kerala for their operations here. It is also in their interest to cooperate with Kerala and settle the claims through the insurance agency. Considering all these aspects, our claim should be raised based on strong evidence and without any compromise,바카라 the note prepared by the Chief Secretary ahead of the meeting mentioned, The Hindu reported.

The Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai, in a press release dated June 9, stated that the offshore support vessels Nand Saarthi and Offshore Warrior remain deployed and continuously engaged in removal and dispersal of light oil sheen noticed at the surface.

Indian Coast Guard Pollution response vessel, ICGS Samudra Prahahari is also deployed near the sunken vessel for monitoring the situation and to deal with any eventuality.

The Emergency Towing Vessel, Water Lily, has been conducting a multibeam seabed survey since 5th June at the datum location. The initial phase of the survey has been completed, and data is currently under analysis, with the report expected shortly.

After the oil spill on May 25, Kerala had issued a statewide emergency and a warning for possible environmental damage along the coastal districts.

바카라œAs the oil slick can reach anywhere along the Kerala coast, an alert has been sounded across the coastal belt. The containers are drifting in the sea at a speed of 3 km per hour. Besides the oil in the fallen containers, marine fuel used in the ship has also leaked,바카라 the chief minister바카라™s office stated in May.

All 24 members on board were rescued by the Indian Coast Guard and the Indian Navy's INS Sujata. The coast guard has asserted that the incident occurred 바카라œdue to flooding in one of the holds바카라.
