Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired a key meeting to review and improve India's tourism sector.
This follows the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which sparked widespread fear among tourists.
Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, his deputy in the Tourism Ministry, Suresh Gopi, Union Tourism Secretary V Vidyavathi and other senior officials attended the meeting.
Meeting To Boost Tourism
As per the reports, the central government is pushing for boosting tourism in the Valley.
"The prime minister chaired a meeting today to review the progress of work in the tourism sector," a senior official said.
The government is now working to bring tourists back and encourage travel to the region. The meeting focused on examining existing plans and finding new ways to promote tourism across the country.
Earlier, on May 15, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a meeting with the Hoteliers Association at the Civil Secretariat.
Following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, he convened a meeting to address concerns. Chief Minister Abdullah assured stakeholders that the government is committed to supporting the sector and will carefully consider their suggestions.
