The England cricket team have revealed their playing XI for the first Test against India, starting on June 20 at Headingley. The hosts have made two changes to the line-up that featured in the one-off Test against Zimbabwe is the inclusion of Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse.
All-rounder Woakes last featured for England in Test was in December 2024 against New Zealand.
The 36-year-old was also part of the England Lions squad that played unofficial Test against India A at Northampton. Woakes took five wickets across two innings.
Brydon Carse is also returning from the a toe injury that kept him out of the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year.
Shoaib Bashir, who was named the Player of the Match in the Zimbabwe Test, will feature as the sole spinner in the attack.
England take on India in the first Test starting Friday, June 20 at Headingley. The series also marks as the first competitive assignment for the new ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
