Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan starrer crime drama Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam, had a decent opening at the Indian box office, despite the regional ban in Karnataka. On Day 2, the film saw a huge drop in its collections. Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5, which was released on June 6, has performed much better than Thug Life. Its Day 1 collection is what Thug Life has collected in two days. So, Kamal Haasan starrer is going to face a tough competition with Akshay's film.

Thug Life box office collection in India

As per a report in Sacnilk, Thug Life witnessed a massive 55% drop from its opening day figure of Rs 15.50 crore. It earned only Rs 7.50 crore in all languages on Friday, taking the two days collections to Rs 23 crore in India.

Thug Life had an overall 31.41% Tamil occupancy on Friday, with maximum occupancy of 45.99% during the night shows and minimum footfall of 20.01% in the morning.

Apart from the South, Thug Life was marketed and promoted in the North as well, but it failed to win audiences' hearts, as its Hindi version earned only Rs 65 lakh on the first day.

Thug Life is not performing well in Tamil language as well, as compared to Kamal Haasan earlier films. Its two-day collection is below his last film, Vikram, which had collected Rs 60 crore net in its first two days of its release in 2022. Indian 2 also did better by earning net Rs 44 crore in its two-day haul at the box office.

It will have to try hard to stay afloat in the upcoming days.
