Why Will Smith rejected Inception
In an interview with UK radio station, KISS, The Pursuit of Happyness actor revealed that Nolan approached him for the role of Cobb, but he refused to do it as he didn't understand the film.
When the host asked Will Smith if he turned down Matrix, he laughed and said, "That was one of my beautiful scars."
The Oscar award-winning star added, "I don바카라™t think I바카라™ve ever said it publicly, but I am going to say it because we are opening up to one another. Chris Nolan brought me Inception first and I didn바카라™t get it. I바카라™ve never said that out loud. Now that I think about it, it바카라™s those movies that go into those alternate realities they don바카라™t pitch well. But I am hurt by those, too."
Smith also said that he regrets rejecting films, which have become iconic. "It hurts too bad to talk about," he added.
For the unversed, Christopher Nolan, who is also best known for films like The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and Oppenheimer, initially approached Brad Pitt for Inception and "requested a response within 48 hours". But when he didn't say yes, Nolan went to Will Smith. After Smith turned it down, he ended up doing it with Leonardo DiCaprio.
On the work front, Will Smith has several projects in his kitty, including I Am Legend 2 and After Earth 2, both releasing in 2025. Reports state that he will also star in Black Panther 3 and Alien VS Predator 3.
