The Bar Council of India (BCI) has called upon the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA) to organize an official farewell for Justice Bela M. Trivedi, who marked her last working day at the Supreme Court on May 16, LiveLaw reported.

In a letter addressed to SCBA President Kapil Sibal and SCAORA President Vipul Nair, the BCI expressed concern over the lack of a formal send-off for Justice Trivedi, describing it as a deviation from the judiciary바카라s longstanding traditions.

바카라The denial of a farewell to a judge of such stature raises questions about the institutional values that we, as a collective body of legal professionals, stand for,바카라 the BCI stated, according to LiveLaw. 바카라To ignore her contributions and deny her the respect she rightfully deserves is to diminish the very principles of equity, fairness, and integrity that Justice Trivedi has ardently upheld throughout her illustrious career.바카라

The BCI urged both bar associations to reconsider their decision, framing a farewell not just as a formality but as a symbolic reaffirmation of the judiciary바카라s traditions and institutional decorum, LiveLaw reported.

Highlighting her legacy, the BCI noted Justice Trivedi바카라s significant rulings, including her judgment in the D.K. Gandhi case, in which the Court held that advocates cannot be held liable under the Consumer Protection Act for deficiency of services. The verdict emphasized the need to treat professionals differently from those engaged in trade or business.

During the Supreme Court바카라s ceremonial bench proceedings earlier in the day, Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud (corrected from BR Gavai) also reportedly expressed disapproval of the SCBA바카라s decision not to hold a farewell for Justice Trivedi.

The BCI바카라s appeal underscores broader concerns about maintaining judicial traditions and ensuring respect for those who have contributed significantly to the legal system.
